An angel gives Saint John a rod and says to him: "Arise, and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who adore within it."(Apocalypse 11:1)The magnificent angel with its outspread wings links the two sides of this miniature: John on the left and the temple of God on the right. The temple holds an altar, in front of which people kneel with their hands raised in prayer.
