Saint Roch, a pilgrim with an ulcerated thigh caused by the plague, was turned out of Piacenza, but his dog brought him a loaf every day and an angel tended his wound.
This was the left wing of a triptych in Santa Maria della Scala, Verona. The other wing was a Saint Sebastian by Francesco di Marco India Torbido (now missing) and the centrepiece was Gerolamo dai Libri's 'Virgin and Child with Saint Anne', also in the Collection.
