The Sala Chaloem Krung Royal Theatre was commissioned by King Prajadhipok for the occasion of 150th anniversary of Bangkok in 1932. The new theatre was in Art Deco style and fully air-conditioned. When opened in 1932, it was the most modern theatre in the region. The theatre is still open today.
