The room, a real gem of the Palazzo's crown, deals without triviality with the themes of love and erotism. Walls and ceiling tell the visitor Apuleio's story of Amore and Psiche, written in II° A.D. in the book 'Metamorphosis'. The paintings represent the apex of mannerist style, of which Giulio Romano thus becomes the absolute champion. Giulio is able to create an involving environment, in which no character has the lead but rather the protagonists are lost in the vortex of the story.
