The salon of banker Thierry van Zuylen and landscape architect Gabrielle van Zuylen's apartment in Paris, designed by Francois Catroux. A pair of large beige couches, placed back-to-back, occupies the middle of the room. A lacquered wooden table stands alongside one wall under a small painting, laden with objets d'arte. On either side of the entrance to a large alcove are a narrow black and white abstract painting by an unidentified artist, and a blue-on-white Chinese vase. Through the entrance to the alcove, past a leather bench, another couch is visible under an octagonal gilt 17th-Century Venetian mirror.
