Emma says: "This is Sam, he’s a student paramedic. I wanted my portrait of him to show the initial worry he felt when Covid-19 cases were initially being reported in our country but also the sense of pride he expressed in working for the NHS. He told me that although the public support for the NHS has been amazing, he just feels he’s doing his job.
Sam tells me that when the Covid-19 threat first began it was frightening..."as we had no idea what Corona was, how it infects and how it effects those who have it apart from the horror stories in China. We were being sent to jobs which flagged up potential for Covid due to where people have travelled. We would find ourselves wearing high levels of PPE and just hoping that it’s sufficient but we really didn’t know....as the virus became more understood precautions were lessened yet everyone was still tense, colleagues were going off sick left right and centre and home life was becoming stressful due to not knowing if you were bringing anything home".
