Sami men, women and children at their camp by a fjord. Sledges, dogs and other belongings by a big tent. Meat drying on racks behind the tent. In the background; reindeer and men by their boats. Printed by Bayot after a drawing by A. Mayer. This print is part of "Atlas Historique et Pittoresque", published in 1842-1852 for "Voyages de la Commission Scientifique du Nord" about the Recherche expedition.

Magerøya is best known for the northernmost point of mainland Europe, Nordkapp, which is a common destination of many of these expeditions on the 1800s.
