This is a Tang-dynasty (618-907 AD) samite fragment featuring confronted lions in double-circle beaded medallions, which make this item extremely exotic. The maximal width of the medallion is 27.3cm while maximal height 24cm. The remaining upper half of the lion is 19.8cm in width and 12.6 in height. The outer circle of the medallion is composed of well-arranged ruyi patterns while the inner one of hexagon patterns of different sizes. Two awe-inspiring lions with standing mane face each other across a palm branch. Lake green was chose as the color for motifs on a khaki ground.
