Of the two known models made by Scaramuzza for the altarpiece in the Oratory of the Rocca di Sala Baganza, one is kept in the Museum (no. 490), the other, formerly owned by the former Napoleonic officer Michele Varron, is now in a private collection. It was Varron who commissioned this engraving to the studio of Paolo Toschi, who entrusted it to Antonio Costa, while exercising close supervision (he was probably responsible for the creation of Napoleon's face).
