This is a study of one of the two canvases that once decorated the San Domenico chapel in the San Pietro Martire church, shown here. Although the canvas is documented as having been in the church, no trace of it can be found. However, the drawing remains a precious reminder of Guardi’s work as a landscape artist. In it, we can see the particular attention he paid to perspective and topography, together with his clever and skillful use of chiaroscuro.
