Sandbars might not sleep at all. Recently, scientists discovered that the motions of a spiny dogfish, a smaller shark, are coordinated by the spinal cord instead of the brain, which means it's possible that sharks can shut down one-half of their brains at a time and rest while they swim on autopilot!
