Listen to Sandra Dodson, Norval Foundation Education and Publications Coordinator, discussing Part I “Untitled” by Ernest Mancoba. The artist was part of the CoBrA group, a European avant-garde post-war artists collective that was active from 1948 to 1951. The name was derived from the initials of the founding members' home cities, Copenhagen (Co), Brussels (Br), Amsterdam (A). While the group sought inspiration from Africa, Mancoba was often excluded from major CoBrA exhibitions. We’re sharing live art stories in 60 seconds with #60SecondArt – sharing an image of an artwork from the Homestead Art Collection or from what’s on display, with a voiceover by curators, artists or colleagues based at Norval Foundation and invited – 🎨: Ernest Mancoba, Untitled, 1951, Oil on canvas
