A London Transport staff member is dressed as Father Christmas in this photograph, taken in 1931. He is loading toys into an Underground delivery van outside Charing Cross (now Embankment) Underground station. The toys are from the 'British Made Toys Exhibition' at Charing Cross Station booking hall. They are going to be distributed to various children's hospitals to give to sick children for Christmas. Many of the exhibitions held at Charing Cross station displayed British goods, and were more like trade fairs than art exhibitions.
