The church of Santa Maria de la Peña is located next to the castle of Piedra Bermeja. Its location is one of the most romantic sites of all the village, surrounded by leafy trees and in an unforgettable natural and patrimonial environment. Built in the early 13th century, it is a church with three naves with three aisles. It is a perfect example of Cistercian architecture transitioning from Romanesque to Gothic, with its character of purity and renovation. Inside, it treasures the statue of the town’s patron saint: the virgin of la Peña.
