Sarasa stencil, Edo Karakam

For this technique rounded deer-hair brush is used to dye the paper using Ise-katagami dyed pattern paper (patterns are out on washi paper treated with persimmon tannin). In this example only one pattern paper is used, but sometimes several pattern papers are also used to print multi-colored designs.
