In the center Dionysus embraces a Satyr, while on the sides are distributed the personifications of the seasons. In the first group on the left, there are Spring, with a bunch of flowers in his hands, Winter, drinking new wine from a cup, Summer, with a bunch of ears in his hands, and Autumn, raising a hunt just kicked out. The right group begins with Summer, with a basket full of fruit and a bunch of ears, Autumn leaning on a branch of vine, Spring, holding a sheep between his shoulders, and finally Winter covering his head with a hood. On the cover, on the left, two cupids support a drape as a background to the portrait of the deceased. The space for the inscription was not engraved: evidently the sarcophagus was not realized for a particular customer, but it was a serial product that remained unsold.
