The folk songs of Punjab are lively and popular. Tales of love and romance are sung at weddings when women gather together to celebrate. Every family has its own set of songs which are passed down from their grandmothers.

Printing blocks with the words of one such song were carved in Sanganer, a town well known for handblock printing and handmade paper. The words form a text and a texture placed between bold lines in red and blue.
