The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

A solid bronze statuette of a satyr. Most of both forearms, the left leg at mid-thigh, the right leg below the knee, and the tail are missing. The figure stands with his weight on his right leg and has a slight paunch. Evidence of the tail remains on the lower back and right buttock. The facial characteristics are similar to those of known portraits of Sokrates and include a bald, round head; a long, curly beard; and a flat, broad nose.
