Corinth was a prosperous port with numerous contacts in the Near East. Among its main export products were aryballoi: small scent bottles, filled with fragrant oil. This little bottle has been decorated in very lively style. Aryballoi are found in diverse variants: egg-shaped, pear-shaped, and spherical, for instance. They were hung from the wrist by a cord.
