This object is emblematic of the refined levels of craftsmanship reached in Moche metallurgy. Hunting scenes like the one portrayed here, featuring figures armed with blowpipes, were very common in all forms of Moche art and probably alluded to ceremonial hunts organized during agricultural festivities.
