President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) served as the 16th President of the United States until his assassination on April 14, 1865, by John Wilkes Booth. Following President Lincoln's death, a funeral train departed Washington, D.C., and traveled to Springfield, Illinois. ”Schedule for Special Train, With the Remains of President Lincoln” lists the scheduled stops of the funeral train that carried the President’s body from Harrisburg to Philadelphia on April 22, 1865.
