Schenectady NY - Esther Sonn, of the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, which is operated by the General Electric Company for the Atomic Energy Commission, gets an early look at atomic things to come. She is peering into plastic model of 225 foot, 14 story high steel sphere, which will house laboratory's land based prototype of an atomic power plant for US Navy submarines. Sphere, now under construction at West Milton, 18 miles north of here, will contain a complete submarine hull section as shown inside plastic ball. Part of the hull will be surrounded by water, enabling atomic power plant to be tested under conditions closely approximating those encounters at sea.
