Interior view, singers hall

This picture is a photochrome. Similar to a lithograph, the individual color layers are printed separately and thus obtain their radiant colorfulness. A black-and-white photograph by the Bavarian court photographer Joseph Albert served as a model for the printing process. Albert photographed the interiors of Neuschwanstein Castle in 1886, the year King Ludwig II died; the prints were published in 1887. (Inventory number of the original photograph: ZI-1050-07-00-022942)
Photochrom Zurich's photochroms, abbreviated P. Z., are often identified by a serial number followed by the letters P. Z. and a caption in gold letters.
