Friedrich Dürrenmatt was mainly famous for his theatre plays, such as The Visit or The Physicists. But he was also quite a productive painter and draughtsman. In this caricature of Marcel Reich-Ranicki he portrays the literary critic armed with a huge pen on a battlefield with the heads of his enemies. As a critic, Marcel Reich-Ranicki was famous and feared for his explicit judgments.
