This device, designed in 1892 by the Sicilian doctor Antonino Sciascia (1839-1925), is used in phototherapy, a therapy based on the use of solar rays. It is composed by two concentric cylinders, one larger than the other, whose movement allows to focus the lens placed inside the device. It is equipped with a concave mirror, used to convoy the solar rays.
