These scissors were part of the Personal Preference Kit of Command Module Pilot Michael Collins during the Apollo 11 mission in July 1969. They were used to open the plastic bags in which food was rehydrated, to enable the astronauts to eat and reduce the danger of spillage.Donated to the National Air and Space Museum by Michael Collins in 1984.
