This is the scoresheet of the fourth game of the 1987 World Championship Match between champion Garry Kasparov and challenger Anatoly Karpov. The match, held in Seville from October 12 to December 19, was their fourth encounter. Kasparov won this game, bouncing back after losing the second one. A note at the bottom of the scoresheet, written by the arbiter, states that Karpov resigned after the game was adjourned.
This was not the last time Kasparov made a comeback in the match. As the competition neared its end, Kasparov lost the penultimate game and needed to win the final game to level the score and retain his title. He succeeded in a tense and dramatic 24th game, which lasted for a symbolic 64 moves.
