A treasured piece of Scottish and world football history featuring the man widely recognised as the world’s first black international footballer. Watson (pictured wearing his cap, second from the left in the back row) won three caps in total, between 1881/82, starring in a 5-1 win over Wales and 6-1 and 5-1 wins over England. His international career effectively ended that summer when he moved south to England. At that time the Scottish FA only selected players who featured in the Scottish leagues. In England Watson became the first black man to play in the FA Cup, for Swifts, and later joined one of the leading clubs of that time, Corinthians.
