In Screaming Foot, Haroshi (Japan, 1979) turns skateboards into a colourful leg topped by the splinters and damage typical of unpolished wood. Likewise, this technique structures his artistic practice. Involved in urban culture from a young age, the Japanese artist uses the superimposition and modelling of recycled skateboards to give a second life to the material to compose his sculptures. Usually, inside his creations he introduces small pieces of the skateboard as an amulet, giving his creations a soul. This behaviour perpetuates the Japanese tradition introduced by the sculptor Unkei, who placed a small crystal ball inside the Buddhas he made.
