Sculptural ceramic ceremonial vessel that represents a mythological killing whale ML013684

This is a sculptural ceramic bottle depicting a mythological killing-whale, mythological animal of the Nasca culture which captures heads. In some representations, the stylized heads are portrayed inside its body. Thus, the mythological killing-whale transports the head-offerings to the deep and humid world, the world of the ancestors. This personage can also be identified in one of the great geoglyphs of the Nazca Lines. (UH)

Esta es una botella escultórica de cerámica que representa a una orca mitológica decapitadora, animal mitológico de la cultura Nasca que captura cabezas. Incluso en algunas de sus representaciones estas cabezas se pueden observar dentro de su cuerpo de una manera muy estilizada. De esta manera la orca transporta las cabezas ofrenda a las profundidades del mundo interior y húmedo, el mundo de los ancestros. Este personaje también se puede identificar en uno de los grandes geoglifos de las Pampas de Nazca. (UH)
