Ai Apaec is a Moche personage characterized by a belt and ear ornaments with snake heads, fangs in his face, and a headdress that varies according to the context in which he is located as part of his quest through different worlds. In this case, he wears the helmet of the Owl (nocturnal bird of pray), which connects the upper world (sky) with the dark and inner world (night). Incorporating elements of the three sacred animals (snakes earrings, fangs of the jaguar and a bird headdress), Ai Apaec has the power to connect and mediate between the three worlds (inner world - terrestrial world – upper world).
