Sculptor Barbara Lekberg has noted that shortly after she learned to weld when she moved to New York City in 1947, she found that steel and bronze could depict moving forms in space. Much of her work reveals her lifelong fascination with the figure in motion, the way human stance and gesture reflect emotion, and how charged motion and a figure’s state of being can be translated into sculpture.
