The second of the polychromes identified has been dated in the first decades of the 16th century, coinciding with the construction of the Royal Hospital, after the visit of the Catholic Monarchs and with the first intervention carried out on the facade of the Portico. This layer is identified by the use of gold, of a somewhat lower quality than that of the first polychrome and the novelty of the use of azurite to replace lapislazuli.
