Egle Budvytyte shapes a utopian narrative of a secret open-source community. "Secta"is a documentary drama piece that reveals a cult-society secret whose identity is manifested by particular behaviors, and often very obscure, in public spaces. The film exposes "Secta" in an open-source, fluid network which coexists in, between and with the lines of the official social reality. The members of Secta do not know that they belong here. The project began by y questioning the way in which public and private spaces are constructed and tested in western cities, and considering potential ways to subvert the implicit rules and the conventions that rule them.
EGLE BUDVYTYTE obtained a BA in Media Arts and Photography from Vilnius Art Academy, Lithuania, a BA from the Audio Visual Department at Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, and in 2008 an MA from the Fine Art Department at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam. She has held individual and collective exhibitions, and film and video screenings throughout the world.
