Throughout his oeuvre, both thematically and stylistically, Radović ranged from traditionalism to the avant-garde. At one point, he even rejected the postulates of the academic and found a certain kind of authentic personal style from the criticism defined as "naivety". The coloristically expressive half-length depiction of the author's character is the painter's unique trip to the field of the so-called of colorful expressionism. Aggression and playfulness of colors, and yet calmness of the character point to the intimate phase (1932-40) and would never lead to the idea that the author of such an "optimistic" painting can fall into severe life and creative depression as it happened to Ivan Radović. in later years.
