This work, created during the apprenticeship with Johann Georg Sulzer in Winterthur, is the only known oil painting by the Zurich miniature painter, drawer, etcher and calligrapher, who was court painter at Solms-Braunfels Castle on the river Lahn from 1700 to around 1702.
