Self-portrait, Caroline Hennell (1814-1905)

This self-portrait was made before Cara married Charles Bray. Cara became a writer of children’s stories and school text books, as well as a radical thinker on religious and political matters. Cara was close friend with Mary Ann Evans (George Eliot).
