Huang Yanghui, born in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, alias Huang Xuchen, pseudonym as Huang Yi. He received plastic art training in his early years and studied under Xu Beihong since the age of nineteen and held the post of the secretary of him for more than twenty years. In 1946 he served successively as the vice professor of National Beiping Art Academy, the professor of Nanjing University, the advisor of Senior Artists Association of Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, the member of China Artists Association and the Chinese Calligraphers Association, etc.
