The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection

James Porter studied at the Sorbonne and at Howard University, where he would later establish himself as a premier scholar and art professor. In 1965, the National Gallery of Art named Porter one of the most influential art teachers in the United States. His legacy is Modern Negro Art, a book that continues to educate and inspire.
