Kateryna Bilokur was born on December 7,1900 in the village of Bohdanivka, Poltava region, in a poor peasant family. Bilokur’s course of life and creative work has no analogies in the world art of the 20th century, as, having even no primary education, she reached the acme of art and literature. Bilokur’s creations were inspired by the nature of her native village, and flowers in particular, which enchanted her sensitive soul. The artist reproduced the diversity of motley flowers around the house, in the garden, on the meadows and fields on canvas. "And I looked at the mother-nature and learnt from it, rich in colours, tones, and half-tints."
