Maurice Asselin settled in Paris in 1904 to devote himself fully to painting after training in Orléans and at Cormon's studio. Recognized in salons and the press as early as 1906, he regularly stayed in southern Finistère for forty years. A versatile painter, he explored landscapes, nudes, portraits, and still lifes.
