Self-portrait of Robert Fulton

Painted self-portrait of Robert Fulton (1765-1815), on three joined panels, said to have been painted by himself. Fulton was born in Little Britain Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In his lifetime, he developed and marketed a steamboat, painted works of art, designed a submarine for Napoleon, configured canals in the U.S., and patented many inventions.
