Self Portrait

This is one of the best self-portraits that have come down to us from the painter Modesto Teixidor y Torres. In it, he manages to capture his own essence and transmit a great serenity through his facial and corporal expression, which acquires greater prominence thanks to the play of light and shadow on a dark background. He uses a palette of sober colors, with a detailed and precise brushstroke, characteristic of the Traditional School.
