Self-portrait

The only painting by Taras Shevchenko in NAMU’s collection is the Self-Portrait. It is pervaded with deep psychologism and high spirituality, its vigorous chiaroscuro is close to the traditions of Rembrandt whom Shevchenko considered the unsurpassed master.
