Semi-Nude Woman is 116.5 cm wide and 91 cm high. The painting depicts a woman reclining in a chair, nude from the waist up and with both eyes closed. The brushwork is lively, and the colors are refined; the painting radiates tranquility and grace. The painting was made in about 1909, while Li Shutong was studying abroad in Japan. One hundred years later, the figure in the painting still feels lifelike, which is rare in early Chinese oil painting.
