Senator Jackie Winters at a screening of "Lost City, Living Memories: Vanport Through The Voices of Its Residents" during the Vanport Mosaic Festival. She was born in Topeka, Kansas, but later moved to Oregon where she and her family survived the Vanport Flood. She was a passionate supporter of The Vanport Mosaic, and Story Midwife Laura Lo Forti had the honor to record her oral history. Senator Winters was the first African-American Republican elected to the Legislature. She passed away in 2019 at age 82.
