After deploying the Navy's Syncom 4-3 satellite, it failed many of its initial procedures. Here crew members hold makeshift "flyswatters" used in an attempt to activate the faulty satellite's deploy switch using the robotic arm. Although they expertly tripped the switch, the satellite failed to respond.
