Throughout Egyptian history (c. 3000 BC to 300 AD), the board game of Senet remained the most popular game amongst the upper classes. It is a two-player game where each player has seven pieces and throwing sticks or dice. Individual fields are inscribed with hieroglyphs, which bring the player good or bad luck. Along with numerous portrayals in tombs – most famously in the tomb of queen Nefertari –, complete original sets exist, as well as individual playing pieces, sticks and dice.
