Another variant of M. K. Čiurlionis' "Serenity" (1903/1904) and his exploration of psychological concept of peace and serenity and their duality. This painting is a bit darker and the island is much sharper. It still has the antropomorphic aspect - the island, when reflected in the water, looks like a reptile-like monster lurking in the water. Two bonfires, perhaps lit by fishermen, look like watchful eyes and create unneasiness the more you look at them.
