Everybody has probably built houses of cards from beer coasters or playing cards once - but they are hardly remembered as a commercial product or a game idea. At the beginning of the 20th century, when playing cards were not yet everyday consumer goods, special card house games existed in large numbers. In addition to simple building games, cards with educational content were particularly a popular way to playfully teach children how to count or read.
